 SULLIVAN - Sullivan Fire Protection District firefighters receive training throughout the year. Whether it's diving in the river for rescue or recovery, or leading the way into a burning house, firefighters constantly get updated on technique and technology. The Sullivan Journal recently went along on one of those training missions, this time inside a smoked-out house on Sappington Bridge. GERALD - A 58-year-old Gerald man was killed Sunday night on Hwy. H and Angell Road when he apparently lost control of a 2001 Yamaha ATV and was ejected, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to reports, Michael Colombo was driving the ATV near the Hwy. H/Angell Road intersection when the ATV overturned, ejecting him. He was pronounced dead by Gerald Ambulance personnel and taken to the St. Louis County Morgue. This was the 89th fatality...
